How we are building a horror game as four students
The Crew & The Chaos
We are Gone Case, a group of four programmers - the three founders are responsible for Code, Visuals, and Audio, while the fourth one is the only one who is not a total disaster like the rest. We all came from different backgrounds, but the main thing that connected is out passion for this project.
To be honest, the whole thing started as a total joke. One of us suggested making a horror game based on our college just to see what kind of trouble we could cause. Before we knew it, the joke became a full-time obsession. We were skipping classes and surviving on coffee and ambition.
The Struggle Was Real, For Real
Startup? Easier said than done. We were working with zero equipment. We are talking about one old laptop that could barely handle anything It was always on the verge of quitting us and the Scenario was such that we had to discard the whole project and begin anew seven times._ No kidding_. We just kept on grinding because what other option was there for us.
We were destined to find our method of working together. We would gather at the same café every week, where we would sit at a standard table, discuss the nest week tasks, and maintain the momentum. Do we have a social life? No, not really. Just trying to make the best of this one.
We want to make a statement. This is not just about selling yet another video game it is a matter of a higher purpose. We have had enough of the lazy content, the slop that is served to players.
We are the ones to give the complete package-the game mechanics, the storyline, the music, the whole experience that the players expect and deserve. We are creating the game for our fellow gamers, taking care of every single detail.
We may be small, but we are powerful. We do not possess the luxurious, top-notch studio setup, but this does not hinder our progress. We find our own ingenious methods to deal with new challenges.
